Nick Offerman Made My Day with a Possible Mention of Poop

My favorite part about writing stories for this LIFE special on The Smurfs, apart from getting to interview the delightful Dan Levy, was my chat with the very warm, very funny, and very bearded Nick Offerman.

The best bit didn't make the final edit, but I felt like it needed to be shared. ⬇️

Offerman was talking about the abundance of voiceover studios.

Offerman: You come to understand that there are recording studios everywhere around the planet. I've recorded voice stuff on 5 continents. It's hilarious. And you'll go to like a cool groovy studio in South Africa, and they always have a story where they're like “Eric Clapton [indecipherable] on this rug, and we've never had it washed.”

Me [fairly startled]: Did you say... “pooped”? The zoom sound went weird.

Offerman [hesitates]: I'm going to... [pauses, chuckles] I didn't say “pooped,” but I'm going to leave it as “pooped.” I'm gonna let that be a happy improvement. 💩
