Erik spent more than a decade as an executive editor at Entertainment WeeklyandInStyle, working across two of the country’s most recognizable entertainment and lifestyle brands.
He was previously editor-in-chief of Show People and an editor and critic at Us Weekly and Time Out New York. His journalism has appeared in The Atlantic, People, Glamour, W, Town & Country, LIFE, Out and other national publications. His work has ranged from long-form profiles and cultural reporting to interviews with major figures in entertainment and the arts.

Erik continues to write and edit collectible special editions for People, creating deeply reported entertainment and pop-culture packages for People Inc. (formerly Dotdash Meredith).

In 2026, Erik returned to a 2004 interview he had conducted with Donald Trump about Trump’s enthusiasm for Broadway, using the conversation as the starting point for an essay about politics, theater and the changing cultural meaning of the “theater kid.”

As an editor and cultural critic at Time Out New York, Erik led Film, Theater, and Gay & Lesbian coverage at various points in his tenure. He wrote extensively across the magazine, including major cover stories on Julianne Moore, Judi Dench, and other leading artists. He wrote and reported from a spate of film festivals, from Sundance to Sarajevo.

Erik has also worked as an on-air entertainment reporter and correspondent, including BBC/BBC America’s Talking Movies and ABC’s The Us Weekly Report. He has appeared as a commentator on CNN, Entertainment Tonight, The View, VH1 and Access Hollywood. He also appeared on MTV’s How to Live Like a Celebrity Pet, a professional achievement unlikely ever to be surpassed.
