Labor Day weekend, 1976. Democratic presidential nominee Jimmy Carter is preparing for a possible series of televised debates against Gerald Ford when an unlikely visitor arrives at his modest home in Plains, Georgia: Robert Redford, the biggest movie star in America.

Inspired by an extraordinary true encounter never before dramatized, Bob & Jimmy imagines the night Redford helped Carter confront a new political reality--that being right may not matter if the country stops listening. As the actor teaches the candidate how to face a camera without losing himself, Carter begins turning the questions back on Redford, exposing the private doubts beneath both men’s public images.
